The Reserve Bank of India announced that banks can now extend loans to non-resident Indians (NRIs) against their Foreign Currency Non-Resident (FCNR-B) deposits. This eases funding constraints for NRIs and injects liquidity into the banking system. RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra also said it was ātoo early to discuss rate hikesā ā a dovish signal that immediately lifted bank stocks.
